Today, for Women's History Month, meet this beautiful and brave young lady

Emily Hodder, 29, Artist, Fiddler, Dreamer

Emily certainly has a zest for life. Though her resume looks like that of a nomad, she has found that always searching for fulfillment in life has given her a very interesting story so far. Inspired by strong women around & before her, she is constantly striving to find that “one thing” that makes her great too. A lover of all arts, she aspires to make people feel something in her chosen career or craft, & to experience soul-fulfillment herself too.

Emily has been involved in the arts her entire life, though- surprise!- never settled into just one thing. She was involved in dance for many years, performed in musical theatre productions, & played the fiddle throughout childhood. She helped raise a baby deer one summer in her family’s veterinary clinic, wrote & hosted a comedy play in her barn with her entire sixth grade class, & started her own bluegrass band with friends in college. Emily loves gatherings of lively friends who inspire her, have passion in whatever they do, & go boldly in whatever directions their hearts lead them. After two years of college, Emily left school to explore the workforce, apprentice, & travel. At 19, she & a dear friend traveled to Europe where they backpacked for two months. Leaving her little Massachusetts cow-town to go overseas for the first time was a pivotal step toward self-empowerment, self-reliance, & self-confidence. Though she’s nearly 30 now, Emily still views this trip as one of her most important & exciting times of life.

Emily currently lives in Portland, Maine- the place that took her in when she was in her early twenties, & inspired her with its creative community & entrepreneurial spirit. Her inner spirit always seems to be grasping for life clarity & self-confidence in whatever she does, yet you will always see her persevere through this inner turmoil with theatrics & a good laugh. She’s certainly tried it all- waitress, housekeeper, receptionist, veterinary assistant, farmhand, shopkeeper, design & production assistant… what’s next? (No really, someone, please tell her what’s next.)

In spite of her nomadic resume, Emily hopes her strength shows through & she'll land somewhere that feels just right. A late bloomer perhaps, Emily is hopeful to blossom into a career that feels true to her soul. That, or she’ll join the circus. Stay-tuned.

Emily certamente tem um gosto pela vida. Embora seu currículo pareça com o de um nômade, ela descobriu que sempre buscando satisfação na vida lhe deu uma história muito interessante até agora. Inspirada por mulheres fortes ao seu redor e à sua frente, ela está constantemente se esforçando para encontrar a “única coisa” que a torna eminente também. Amante de todas as artes, ela aspira fazer as pessoas sentirem algo em sua carreira ou profissão escolhida, e também experimentar a realização da alma.

Emily esteve envolvida nas artes a vida toda, porém - surpresa! - nunca se estabeleceu em apenas uma coisa. Ela esteve envolvida na dança por muitos anos, atuou em produções de teatro musical e tocou violino durante a infância. Ela ajudou a criar um filhote de cervo em um verão na clínica veterinária de sua família, escreveu e organizou uma peça de comédia em seu celeiro com toda a turma da sexta série e criou sua própria banda de bluegrass com os amigos na faculdade. Emily adora encontros de amigos animados que a inspiram, têm paixão pelo que fazem e seguem corajosamente as direções que seus corações os levam. Após dois anos de faculdade, Emily deixou a escola para explorar a força de trabalho, aprendiz e viagens. Aos 19 anos, ela e um amigo querido viajaram para a Europa, com apenas a mochila nas costas por dois meses. Deixar sua pequena cidade de Massachusetts para viajar para o exterior pela primeira vez foi um passo fundamental para a auto-fortalecimento, a autoconfiança e a confidencia. Embora agora tenha quase 30 anos, Emily ainda vê essa viagem como um dos momentos mais importantes e emocionantes da sua vida.

Atualmente, Emily vive em Portland, Maine, o lugar que a abraçou quando ela tinha vinte e poucos anos e a inspirou com sua comunidade criativa e espírito empreendedor. O espírito interior dela sempre parece buscar a clareza da vida e a autoconfiança no que quer que ela faça, mas você sempre a verá perseverar nesse tumulto interno com teatralidade e uma boa risada. Ela certamente já tentou de tudo: garçonete, governanta, recepcionista, assistente de veterinária, fazendeiro, lojista, assistente de design e produção ... o que vem a seguir? (Na verdade, alguém, por favor, diga a ela o que vem a seguir.)

Apesar de seu currículo nômade, Emily espera que sua força apareça e ela aterre em algum lugar que pareça perfeito. Talvez tenha chegado tarde, Emily espera florescer para uma carreira que pareça fiel à sua alma. Isso, ou ela vai se juntar ao circo. Fique ligado.
